Does anyone have a policy/ procedure in place in regards to temperature correction on the iSTAT? We use CG8 and CG4 cartridges for blood gases.

Sonia,
Please provide more details about what you are seeking, maybe I can help.
Donnie

Hi Donnie, Thank you for your response. Currently we advise RT and nursing team to temperature correct blood gases (pO2, pH, PCO2) when the patient temperature is 35 C and requested by provider. Not sure if other institutions have a policy/procedure in place that states what scenarios it is acceptable to temperature correct blood gases.

Ok, thank you for explaining. Our policy does not include a temperature correction process.

Hi Sonia,
Our policy doesn't address temp corrected but the operator can enter the lower/hight temp on the Istat and it will do the temp correction and order a temp correct blood gas.  We have it set up so the temp corrected result is what gets sent to the EMR.
