Are nurses allowed to be the ones that actually run the QC for PPM testing?

Since nurses can't run PPM, only MDs, DOs, and DDS, and QC needs to be run by those doing the test, I would say no. It's probably best to contact CLIA, though, just to make sure.

Agree with Kathleen (not just because that is also our policy but the logic to me is that the QC should be performed by the testing personnel performing the test for PPMP, just as we do for waived or other moderate complexity).

I did look though materials I have but don't see where 'it's the law' for PPMP testing.

I'm including the CDC booklet link.

I agree with both Kathleen and Peggy,  both CAP and JHACO have check-list requirements that state non-waived tests systems must have the QC performed by the same personnel performing the test.  This would fall under these regulations.

Exactly what "PPM QC" are you talking about?  The only QC we have is the interpretation of photomicrographs to assess the competency of the providers.

Yes, which PPM QC are you referring to?
