CAP SOQ crosscheck on ABL

Is anyone else having issues getting results when running SOQ crosscheck material? We use ABL and I get a lot of errors of "oxi spectrum mismatch," or something similar. Sometimes I'll see question marks on the result and sometimes I don't get results at all. This happened last year but it's much worse this year. I've seen it on ABL 800 and ABL90. It seems worse on ABL90. My service tech said that CAP uses bovine serum and we're wondering if it's a matrix issue.

Make sure you have parameter suppression disabled as outlined in the kit instructions for all SOQ tests.

On the ABL90 (and probably similar on 800): Menu > Utilities > Setup > General Setup > Parameters and input > Parameter setup

Highlight each SO parameter that you run and click Edit. Uncheck both the 'Repress parameter value in patient result in case of any problems' and 'out of range suppression.'

We've made the mistake of forgetting to uncheck the boxes and that's when we get all the errors you mentioned. Just remember to recheck the boxes!

Yes! We just went live with these devices a few months ago so this was my first survey.  After I unchecked both boxes, I was able to go to my previously run samples in the Patient Result Log, select ID, slightly edit the info, then select Results and the results were displayed.  Hopefully that can save people from needing replacement samples!

I did turn off Parameter Suppression, as the instructions said. I did not do anything with parameter repression though since the CAP instructions dont mention that, so thanks for the suggestion!

Danielle, your hack worked perfectly!  Thank you!

Now I at least have results for everything, but almost every sample across nine analyzers still have question marks.
Sarah and Danielle, did you get all results without question marks?

No, mine still had question marks.  Radiometer support said that is expected.  Our RT dept has rapidpoints and they said they get question marks with their SOQs sometimes too.

Danielle since Radiometer said that is expected do you report the results that have question marks?

Yes, I did report them.  It's my first survey though, so I might be writing a failed survey corrective action next week!

Danielle that made me laugh! We've debated reporting them but haven't been sure if we should or not. Fingers crossed that you don't have to do a corrective action.

Thanks for your help, everyone!
Since I have you here, curious if you guys have been receiving leaky solution packs in the last few months? I've had a few now....
