CORD BLOOD REFERENCE RANGES FOR iSTAT

Does anyone run Cord Bloods as the Sample Type on the iSTAT and if so, what reference ranges do you use?

Thank you for your help!

We looked into this, as we are bringing an iSTAT into our nursery.  We would have used the cord gas ranges that the main lab has already set for their larger instrumentation.  The iSTAT DE (via Telcor QML) has a flaw though, that you can only put in one reference range per analyte, regardless of the fact that an operator can run that analyte as an art/ven/cap ect.  We use arterial reference ranges in the iSTAT DE for all analytes, but in our EHR (EPIC) we of course have source specific ranges with seperate test codes).

In the end, we didn't pursue cord gases on the iSTAT, not just because of unclear IFU and if cord gases are actually approved for use, but it would have been a new set of tests (POC cord gas art/ven  vs main lab cord gas art/ven orders) to be created by IT.  Our TAT for cord gases were sufficient and the care team wanted to just pursue regular ven/cap/art gases instead.
