Yes most test systems utilize external QC, many or most manufactures have recommendations as to what QC material to use for their test system.  If you would specify the systems you are looking at you will get a more specific response to the QC needed.

Yes we use external QC for all our POCT instruments just at different frequencies.

Thank you! I was honestly just curious about the use of external control material and the need to training related to use and storage of external QC material .

Training requirements would be dictated in part by what type of test it is, waived or non-waived and your regulatory body, JHACO, CAP, CLIA, other and lastly by your MD and policies.
Storage requirements of QC would be dictated in its "Instructions For Use" IFU for it.  You would need prof of meeting these requirements for your regulatory body.
