Point of Care Barcoded Label from Epic

Does anyone that has the Clinitek Status Interfaced to Telcor and Epic get a barcoded point of care label to scan patient ID on the Clinitek Status? My health system is looking for a way to get a barcoded point of care label from Epic.

Hi there! We do solicited testing for Clinitek Status Urine testing through Telcor and to EPIC. Our barcode includes the order number of the POCT urine testing placed. It was a fairly simple process.

Let me know if you want to discuss further.

Hi Joshua,
We do  The areas print out the encounter barcode and put it on the urine cup  That’s what they scan

We use unsolicited testing for our point of care testing through UniPOC, Sunquest and on to Epic. Test performers scan the barcoded registration labels which contains the account or CSN identifier for this specific visit.

We have done it.  We had the EPIC Team create a barcoded label where the CSN is formatted as a barcode.  We run an unsolicited workflow and have our operators scan this barcode as an identifier into the Clinitek.  What we found was we needed to upgrade our barcode scanner because the linear scanner could not read the barcode.  With the 2D barcode scanner, we were able accomplish this task and now the workflow is from the Clinitek to EPIC through QML.

My organization uses the CSN (from Epic) as the patient ID in all of our interfaced POC devices that go through QML. For inpatients, the Epic armbands have a linear and 2D CSN on them. For urine dipsticks, the staff uses our Sunquest Collection Manager(CLM) hand helds and print a temporary patient label. That Sunquest temporary patient label has a linear CSN barcode on it which staff use to label the urine cup and scan the CSN into the Clinitek. For outpatients, our clinics print labels from Epic that have a linear barcoded CSN on them. They use these labels on all specimen types collected in the clinic, including urine specimens for testing on the Clinitek.  I had our Epic team build the label format that had a barcoded CSN on the labels.   We use unsolicited POCT orders with QML, Sunquest, and Epic. Happy to assist further if this sounds like something that would work for your organization I went through your same project just a few years ago to implement these barcoded CSN Epic labels in our clinics.  kechtenkamp@nebraskamed.com

I have this too; end users print a single patient label that contains a linear barcode to scan and generates a CSN. This number flows to QML then onto EPIC for charting. Jacob.Fray@dhha.org if you'd like to discuss more or have copies of my tipsheets/policies.
