Liquid controls for HMS Plus and ACT Plus HR-ACT

Does anyone else use the CLOTtrac liquid controls for the HMS Plus and ACT Plus for HR-ACT testing? We seem to have issues with our abnormal control for the HMS Plus instrument. It seems to run on the lower end, sometimes there is a struggle to get the results in range, however, when running on the ACT Plus the results are generally a little higher and we don't have as many issues. Just wondering if others had the same issues with HR-ACT Abnormal CLOTtrac QC with the HMS Plus? Or is there another control product available for the HR-ACT on the HMS Plus and ACT Plus that anyone is using? We don't see the issues with the normal controls, only the abnormal. Any input is appreciated. aholland@catawbavalleymc.org if anyone prefers to respond via email. Thanks!

Hello, we use the CLOTrac QC for out ACT Pluses and have no issues.
Have used the ACT CLOTtrac for the HMS and ACT plus for years. Historically the Abnormal has always been lower than the target value but within the stated range. I just run several samples on both analyzers and create my own range and mean. Then use a running cumulative of all analyzers (same lot control) to evaluate performance. CAP surveys have always been acceptable.
Thanks for the responses! I don't see issues with the ACT Plus instruments and the abnormal control, it does tend to run on the lower end but it still passes well within range. It's just with the HMS Plus we have issues and tend to have to let the control sit longer than the 10 minute recommended reconstitution time in order for it to work. Also, the cartridge has to be in the heat block for exactly 3 minutes, definitely can't rush it, which I think happens sometimes and then the QC fails when this occurs. I was just hoping someone had some helpful hint they used to be sure it was within the range. We just began using the HMS Plus in May so we will just be doing our first proficiency survey next month and I'll see how that goes.
