AVOX Peer Data Review

Hi everyone. Long time reader. Currently (and for at least 9 years), we submit our liquid QC data to an online portal for the AVOX. I'm relatively new to my position and I'm questioning the benefit of this peer review. I'm looking to streamline our monthly review of QC data and was going to go the route of an internal statistical review of our QC for trends and NOT to submit the data for peer review. Knowing the optic filters are meant to detect dirty optics and theoretically would prevent a shift in results, what does everyone do? Are you submitting the results for peer review and using that to identify negative trends? Are you reviewing 6 months back (or more) worth of QC data within your institution for negative trends instead of peer review? Many thanks!

We don't submit our liquid QC data for peer review.  According to our IQCP, liquid QC is only performed weekly with both filters being tested day of use.  We don't see any benefit to evaluate for trends/biases using only 4 values per level each month.  I guess you could do a retro review, but for it to be effective, the same QC lot numbers would need to be used.  We don't do a retro review nor have we ever been asked by CAP if we are doing one.  We do review the SDI values from our proficiency testing results which gives us an idea (three times a year) if we are comparing well to our peers.  If we saw a negative or positive bias (SDI value of > +/- 1.5) we would investigate further, maybe performing a retro QC review at that time.

My answer would be the same as Karen's. We do not use a peer review.

Hi! Can you tell me what peer review portal you were using?  Thanks!

Thank you everyone for your replies.

Mary, we used RNA Medical's Liquid QC and they offer an online portal to submit data for peer review.
