Telcor QML elearning interface

Hi everyone,

Is there anyone here who uses QML Telcor and has experience with interfacing e-learning? We recently implemented QML at the beginning of this year and are currently in the process of integrating e-learning with Telcor. I'm particularly interested in hearing how you map the certification requirements for each of the devices and how you set up automatic interfaces with Workday.

Here's a brief overview of our setup:

  • We operate 6 different devices: Nova, Clinitek, HemoCue, Coagucheck, iSTAT, and AVOX (not including our manual tests)
  • Our system is integrated with Workday.
  • We manage around 4000 users across all campuses.

I would greatly appreciate your thoughts and experiences on this. Please feel free to reach out to me via email at khanh.nguyen@bmc.org.

Thanks,
Khanh

We are looking into this and also use Workday. I am also interested in the comments as well.

We use TelCor QML and have it interfaced to our eLearning system (CornerStone).

Cornerstone uploads a spreadsheet CSV (comma delimited) file of the elearning completions which includes the users name, badge number, title and dept.  This information helps keep the QML database far more up-to-date than we could do manually.  This helps us immensely and saves us a lot of time, you can quickly see what eLearning courses the user completed and when within QML.

QML is setup to automatically re-certify users if they complete the eLearning and skill-check QC with a special code uploaded into the QC comment.  These two components must be done within 30 days of each other and before the user's access expires.

I have submitted a upgrade request to Telcor's development team to update the software to allow it to grant access to users who do not currently have access once they complete the required steps.  Currently the software cannot do this, I would ask you to also make this same request to Telcor.

See email for Telcor QML settings.

Jeremy MacDonald: You mention "a special code uploaded into the QC comment".  What devices are you managing?  Some of ours (e.g. iSTAT) do not allow the user to add comments.

We are in the process of bringing up the Telcor eLearning interface.  Do any of you manage operators who work at different facilities?  We were cited by CAP because we grant device privileges globally rather than by facility.  Any guidance on how we can leverage Telcor for this?

Terry,

Users profiles are built/added into QML when the eLearning uploads, they are initially granted access manually  with " Certify Operator" (when) and "Add Testing Privileges'" (where).   The users follows the steps described to be RE-certified automatically, this updates their user access expiration date and does not modify which locations they have access too.
  • We use the Nova StatStrip glucometer which is setup the way I described with the special code added QC comment.
  • We also enter in UA Dipstick, UA HCG and QuickStrep results into the glucometer.  Users only have complete the eLearning to be automatically RE-Certified.  They do have to be initially manually added.
  • We grant user access to multiple facilities only when we are informed the user works at multiple facilities (waived testing only).  This keeps the user list for a specific facility from growing unnecessarily large.

iSTAT, Epoc, Prime Plus, TEG 6s, HMS Plus are the non-waived testing systems that we use.  These are all manually updated because Telcor can not grant individual facility (individually CLIA licensed facilities) user expiration dates as you mentioned.  We require that users must complete the skill-check at each facility they need access too.  We keep the user's expiration date in Telcor up-to-date in reference to the users primary facility and keep a spreadsheet log of the users secondary access facilities.  When a user's access expires at a secondary facility we remove their "Add Testing Privileges'" to that specific facility.
  • The theory in this is that the user will always keep their primary facilities access up-to-date to work but may only visit secondary facilities sporadically due to them floating there in times of need to fill-in.

Telcor has been working on an update to QML that includes facility specific expiration dates to address this non-waived testing certification  issue.  Its been in the testing phase for nearly 2 years with Telcor.  I've been waiting for its release to implement the automated recertification for the non-waived test systems. also.

Good morning friends,
We use TelCor QML and are in the process of interfacing to our eLearning system (Learning Space).  For those of you who have elearning set up with Telcor, can these operator updates be sent to Cobas Infinity POC software?  Can new operators be sent and terminated operators deactivated?  Thanks for any information you can share!

Sandy,
I would recommend calling Telcor themselves regarding your question.  Their website does have a list of analyzers that can be interfaced to QML but I'm not aware of a list of software that it also works with.  First thing you would be looking for is if the interface is bi-directional, if it isn't, then by default it will not have that ability.
