Hi Fellow POC Coordinators,

I am curious to know if there are any labs/facilities that are currently testing/using the Hemochron Sig Elite ACT Plus in the Cath Lab? What issues have you encountered?

Thank you!

We used the ACT+ in our Cath Lab but recently switched to the ACT-LR (low-range) due to volume of heparin administered during the procedures. I would check to see the dosage being administered to make sure your have the correct reagent for your procedure.

Hello,

We use the Sig Elite for low range ACT in the OR/IR/EP and Cath Lab. Our biggest challenge is having them download the results from the device after each case. We will be switching to the GEM Hemochron 100 next year and running both ACT+ and Low range on that analyzer. This one is wireless which will help with that issue.

Following!!!  We are needing to start validation of the Plus after the first of the year.  Currently only using the LR in our Cath Lab, but as our EP cases are increasing, the team is requesting the Plus cuvettes.

We use Sig Elite ACT Plus in our cath lab and in our OR for perfusion cases .  Our CVL department has 5 devices in use and have chosen to have 2/5 designated only for ACT +.   The other 3 devices are configured for LR only; staff is very skilled in using the correct cuvette type based on case/heparin. We have everything connected through RALS and every location is set up with data plugs/power so that we stay connected.  Wireless would be amazing!

We use the ACT-LR in our cath labs, IR labs, EP, CVU, and a cardiac pre/post unit.  I agree with Brystal; getting staff to transmit the monthly QC and patient results is the challenge. QC can be a little finicky, very technique dependent.  Staff and physicians are satisfied overall.

We use the ACT+ in the Cath Lab only for the EP cases.  All other cases use the ACT-LR.  They have 2 devices dedicated to the LR and one device dedicated to the +.

Thank you for your responses!
