QuickStrep tests are being performed as POC test by non-lab staff.
QuickStrep antigen screen tests performed on pediatric patients must have a confirmatory test ran on all negative results, typically a culture. As part of our Quality Assessment program we address users that report out false negative results after they hit a threshold.

- This threshold of 2 or more false negative results within a month has come under question.
- The requirement of having these individuals repeat the eLearning and successfully performing QC with observation in the lab is also being reviewed.
1. What is your threshold for users that are obtaining false negative Strep results for addressing the individual?
- Yes, it is a screening test. Yes, it is not 100% sensitive and that should be taken into account of this threshold.
2. How do you address these individuals once they have been identified?
Thanks!

Are the people performing the test the same ones who collect the specimen? Do you usually see improvement in false negative rates after retraining? How many tests does each person usually perform per month? My understanding is, even with perfect collection and test performance, your expected false negative rate could be up to 15%.
