Thermal Printer

Do you all use thermal printers to print patient bracelets?

Trying to track down if this might be the issue with our glucometers not scanning the patient bracelets, we do not currently utilize a thermal printer.

We are a large health system and have a mix, but I believe most these days are indeed thermal because the wristbands are plastic.  I can say that we very, very seldom have scan errors with the thermal barcodes.  Like <0.01%.

We use thermal at my hospital and sometimes have a problem with either not scanning the bracelets or scanning and getting a weird digit for some reason (Like ' instead of the number 1).
I was told that there was a time when all the bracelets were doing that. They tried changing the contrast (?)/darkness of the printer and ended up I think having to change wristband suppliers.
