We are going to be getting the GEM Hemochron 100s sometime in the next few months to replace our current Medtronic ACT Plus and HMS Plus devices. We are going to be getting 6 of them and will be using the ACT + cartridges only. Can anyone share any documents with me that may be helpful? Policies, IQCP, Validation process, QC etc., or anything that you all encountered when implementing these devices? We are already in process of working with their IT department for them to be interfaced. My email is aholland@catawbavalleymc.org if you would prefer to respond via email.

We are replacing the iSTAT ACTs with the GEM Hemochron 100s. I would appreciate the the same information Ashlee has requested.

Ditto! We currently use istat ACT but I am curious about the Werfen option. If anyone made a similar transition, I would love to hear pros/cons, validation process, etc. Thanks!

We were the second site in the country to go live with these, and it has been about a year. Your Werfen implementation specialist will do a lot of the heavy lifting for you, as far as the validations go. One thing that I learned that is very important: the settings in the device MUST match what you have in your data management system. Be sure to check through all the device settings ON THE DEVICES to make sure everything you need is 'toggled' correctly- things like auto-send, time synchronization and connection to the Data Management system itself. Because we were one of the first sites, it was a bigger learning curve for all involved. We also had a few hiccups with what the settings should be in order to not log off before the operator needed to use it again in the CVOR. Not everything on the devices is necessarily in the device configurations, and everything has to match!

Once we got everything ironed out, they have been working quite nicely and operators seem to be generally pleased with them.
I do have an instructional power point , procedure and an IQCP if anyone wants them for reference.
