Does anyone use the Rapid Point Blood Gas system by Siemens?
If so I have some questions, this just got transferred to me and I am now trying to ensure that we are complaint with CAP rules and I need some help.
The CAP checklist CHM.34400 Daily QC Blood Gas Instruments---
My understanding is that the Rapid Point does autoQC level 1,2,3 every 8 hours is this sufficient for CAP or do they need to be doing an external control also. I was told that they only do external liquid QC on a rare occasion.
I need someone who can help me navigate this with the rapid point.
Thanks in advance

We use a cartridge-based system (not Siemens) as well and although external (vial) QC is not a requirement per the manufacturer, we opt to do it to satisfy the CAP requirement around pre and post reagent/lot change assessment. It's only once a month and is very easy to do.
