PPM- Provider Performed Microscopy

for the group performing Provider Performed Microscopy in a hospital setting where independant providers see their patients and may perform a Fern Test on the unit, how do you determine who should have a competency completed if they aren't employees?

If they are doing testing under the Lab CLIA license, we make them complete a competency with us regardless.  If they don't complete, they aren't allowed to do testing.  We let them know that it is against regulations and if they try to do the testing without our knowledge/not reporting it, then that is fraudulent.
