Annual competency including Direct Observation for PPM

We oversee PPM at 2 different locations.  One location we send out a module out to all the providers through Medtraining and we also attend thier quarterly OB/GYN meeting and take a microscope.  This is not perfect, but there is no way I can catch them for direct observation at the time of testing.  The other institution we go thru with each of them proper collection and have a lot of pictures.  They are also assigned the Medtraining module.  I do get a signed competency from both locations.

Thank you.  We send out modules using Flexiquiz.  We have trouble with compliance and were just cited for not having competencies for some providers.  The DO is particularly challenging.  What kind of feedback do you receive during the DO?

Our Lab director performs yearly PPM competencies for approximately 20 prescribers.   They use CAP proficiency test photos. It’s a small group so it’s done during professional development meetings. 

We are able to use Candida from Microbiology to make up the KOH testing to use for observation.  For Fern and Wet Prep, we use CAP pictures.  Also have a presentation they have to watch.  I can't email it to anyone as the file is too large, but a good portion of the content was from the CDC document PROVIDER PERFORMED MICROSCOPY PROCEDURES: A Focus on Quality Practices.
