Good morning listservers,
On behalf of University Honors Program Medical Scientists in Pathology and Lab Med at the School of Medicine, UC Davis, I am asking a question about POCT critical values.

Dr. Gerald Kost is a well-known, well-published author and researcher and he is the team director. He published seminal papers in the 1990’s that established the standard of care for urgent test result notifications in the US. His team is moving now to compile critical limit thresholds and critical values for life-threatening test results used for urgent clinical notifications by Level 1 Trauma Centers.

Please post through listserve or send privately to pmann@utmb.edu your institution’s list of quantitative critical levels and qualitative critical values that you use for POCT.

If you are free (allowed) to share your governing policy(ies) related to critical values in POCT, that would also be helpful. ALL CONTRIBUTIONS WILL BE REPORTED ANONYMOUSLY when compiled and published.

The publication will be in open-access peer-reviewed literature so all will be able to access free in order to update actionable hospital thresholds and improve patient care at their facilities.

Thank you!
Peggy for Dr. Kost and his team in Pathology and Lab Med School of Medicine at UC Davis.
