Novanet glucometer setting - Do you auto-populate last strip lot used?

For Nova users, do you have your meters configured to auto-populate the last Statstrip lot used? We are discussing disabling this since it appears that some staff may not be confirming what lot they are using and just accepting what is auto-populated.

Meter Setup>Setup>[Strip Lot Entry] button - "Remember last Strip Lot entered" - Checkmarked or not?

Curious what other systems are doing and why. Thanks in advance!

No. I make them scan the bottle each and every time.

My organization has 3,600 StatStrip operators and 250 meters, we don't have that setting checked. They have to scan the strip bottle every time before doing a patient or QC test. We would not trust our staff to check which lot # they are using - they would blindly accept the strip lot that populated on the screen.  We also sequester one strip lot # for a full year from Nova, so we don't have multiple lot #s floating around the organization. Maybe that is something you could do if you get push-back having them scan the strips each time?

Our staff must scan every time, for the exact reason you and Kari stated.  We have 80 meters and 1,000-ish staff.

Same as other responses, No, they scan every time.

Same here. I see so many other short-cuts that I never even considered having that setting checked!

We also have the devices set so the operator must scan the strip bottle every time before doing a patient or QC test. We did this after noticing that clinical staff was blindly accepting the lot and not checking the bottle.  We sequester one strip lot # for at least a six-month period or longer, if possible, which limits the # of different lots circulating in the hospital.
