Medtronic HMS Plus Letter

Hello Everyone. Today I got an email from Medtronic stating "the HMS PLUS system is no longer being manufactured" and has "decided to implement End of Guaranteed Service". We have been using this system for decades for our Heparin Assay/Protamine dose test in our CVOR.

Does anyone use an alternative system for Heparin Assay/Protamine reversal?

Disappointing, I just finished validating the HMS Plus at my facility. This is the only system we have to offer Heparin Assay/Protamine reversal. Do you mind sharing the letter? I doubt that I would get that communication. kimberly.wilkins@ochsner.org

We just bought 3 and the vendor was here last week validating them for use. This was not mentioned. Can you share the letter? miranda.cotter@mercy.net

Please forward the HMS letter you received to me as well (theresa.galway@mercyoneiowa.org). My perfusionists haven't said anything to me about this so I'm wondering if they know about it yet.

Our Peds Heart perfusion department just told us about this and are changing to iSTAT ACT which we use at adult CVOR. Medtronic told them they would not have any parts for repair of our existing but would be glad to sell us new ones....we declined.

I reached out to our head perfusionist to see if she had heard anything about this and she told me she was contacted last Friday and sent the letter. I asked her to send me the letter so I could attach it here.
