Epoc Critical Results Documentation

We have always entered the critical results on the Epoc host, using the older host version. The data from the critical documentation went through QML (Telcor) and to Epic EMR. We are currently moving to the new NXS host and have found this system to work well with critical documentation being required and interfacing to the patient's EMR. We implemented the Enforced Critical Reporting on the NXS hosts a year ago in December. This turns the middle box on the result page red, and they have to touch on it and answer it.
If they do not do this, an 'are you sure' box pops up. There should be settings for this in your data management system.
Our format is: Notified Physician- add MDs last name and operator's initials- and answer 'yes' to readback.  We put a carve-out in the EPOC procedure for tests run in the OR, where the MD is present and made aware of/.acts upon the critical results in real-time. 
I can't speak to EPIC, but we did have to work with RALS to attach the comment string to the results, which then transfers to our HIS. You would probably have to do something similar with your data management and EPIC. 

My process is the same as Erika's. Happy to help with any questions as well. We also pull a monthly report from EPIC to see what percentage of staff are doing this. If it drops below 90%, I send out reminders.
