Clinitek Status + Base connector Troubleshooting

This is the first place I have had a Clinitek utilizing the base for connection. We keep getting the icon that indicates that the analyzer is not connected to the connector and the barcodereader does not work. The tech unplugs it from the wall and replugs it in and it continues fine. It has been happening once or twice a day.  The 2 connecting wires to the base seem snug and not damaged. It it possible the base is going out?  Anyone have experience with this?

I have had some connectivity issues and I have learned a solution from Siemens tech support that has worked for me. I unplug all connections (scanner, electrical, ethernet, and the connections on the base to the device). Wait 5 minutes then plug in each connection but wait 5 minutes between each inserted cable. This takes a very long time. When I have done this connection is reestablished if it is not an IT issue. I would then run QC and wait for it to cross to verify the connection is established. Sometimes the re-established connection can take 30 minutes or so. Another connectivity issue I have had is my IT department has given the device IP to another non POC device in the hospital so these devices compete for connection. You can have them check the traffic. Lastly, and this has happened to me as well is have the port checked. inside the wall.

Hi Kathy,
We have had this connection issue intermittently for the last 6-8 months.   We have 40ish instruments and it seems to bounce around to which one has the issue smh.  Tech support told us to unplug the power and network cables at the same time and then replug them, no waiting time.  This works and resets the connection.  We previously were unplugging and waiting but they said the important part was unplugging the 2 at the same time so we have our operators unplug both from the instrument and it works.  Good luck!

If the icon looks like a clinitek symbol not the two computer screens then it is possible the base is going bad. We have had many in our system do this so if you try a new base and then it works with the two computer screens most likely the base that will need replaced and it is going bad

And, as has been stated in another thread. Always ensure you are on the most recent version that Siemens has for the Clinitek. It does matter. Adonica has articulated what I have found to work as well. Great advice on this thread. I love our community.
