Nova Statstrip 2.0 Flow errors

We switched to the Statstrip 2.0 after many years of using the Roche Inform II meter. We are seeing a high number of flow errors causing repeated testing. It's widespread amongst various operators and nursing departments. Has anyone else had this issue? Or have any suggestions to reduce these? We did not have this issue with the Inform II meters and these issues also happen with my super users that are doing the proper sample collection.

After many years of using the Roche Inform II, we also switched to the nova StatStrip about 15 months ago.  The StatStrip requires twice the blood volume, 1.2 ul In the beginning, we were also getting a lot of flow errors, either from too small of a blood drop or pulling away from the blood drop before seeing the countdown clock.  As operators got used to the new meter and new blood volume requirement, the flow errors started going down after the first month of use.  I contacted the managers to bring up flow errors during their nurse huddles.

Hi Kim, this is not uncommon. We experience a high number of flow errors as well. We have made this known to the vendor. We emphasize to the end users during skills days and to our Super Users to make sure to emphasize that there is to be one continuous flow through the entire strip to reduce the number of flow errors.

Hello
Our organization uses the StatStrip Glucometer.  Normally, wastage is about 3-4% each month from all errors.  On a rare occasion, specific lot numbers have higher flow/strip errors.
If you have Nova Net, maybe tech support could remote into the system and check the kinds and amounts of errors.

When we made the switch in 2016 from the Inform IIs to the StatStrip, our trainers made it very clear that the sample application on the StatStrip had to be in one fluid motion; you cannot touch the strip to the blood drop a second time like you could with the Accu-Chek strip.  Leave it in the sample until it beeps and starts the countdown.
