Hi all,
Does anyone have a job description for a Technical or Clinical Consultant that they are willing to share? We have title specific to our site ones like POCC or Chair of Pathology but I was looking for a general job description for those and LD also if available.
Thanks in advance :)

See an example from the policy for TC, the LD description is wayyyy long in this policy and covers a lot more than what you are looking for.
Technical Consultant/Technical Supervisor
Role: Ensures technical requirements outlined in CLIA are met Responsibilities:
• Method selection, validation, or verification
• Proficiency testing (PT): enrollment, testing procedures, attestation signing, reporting, review, and corrective action
• Quality assessment/control program implementation and monitoring
• Analytic test performance established and maintained
• Testing deviations identified and remediated
• Testing personnel trained and competency monitored
• Procedure manuals complete, available, and followed
CLIA-Defined Roles for Waived, Moderate and High Complexity Patient Testing and CAP Personnel Requirements (Minimum Standard(s)):
• Laboratory Director: MD, DO, or DPM with a current medical license and laboratory training/experience OR Doctoral degree in chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory sciences with certification by a board approved by HHS. Moderate Complexity Testing
• Technical Consultant: bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science or medical technology with at least 2 years of experience in nonwaived testing in the designated specialty/subspecialty area
We outline the various CLIA roles in a Roles and Responsibilities policy. Then whoever is designated as TC, CC, Tech Supervisor etc, we have a document saying the Medical Director has delegated these individuals in these roles by name, or position is also OK. E.g. Bob Brown as TC, John Smith as CC, POCC is TC etc. So we make sure1. Each role is assigned, 2. Inspectors can see the delegation in writing 3. We know what competencies to assess.
