Afinion 2 bar code scanner

For those who have an afinion 2 with a bar code scanner, did you have issues when first setting up the scanner?
We have called support but so far no luck. We can scan the bar code but on the screen when you select enter it erases the screen and then forces you to manually enter.
Any suggestions?

You need to scan the barcode for the c/r (carraige return) that is in the booklet that comes with the scanner.
Agree that the barcode scanners have to be programmed prior to first use!
