Proficiency Testing for Waived Testing

Hi Everyone!

We are looking at doing proficiency testing or blind samples on some of our waived testing (i.e., HbA1c). Has anyone ever done this sort of thing for waived testing? If so, can you share your experience?

  • What went well?
  • What did your system struggle with?
  • Did you go through CAP, somewhere else or did you do some other kind of blind sample?
  • Would you recommend it or recommend against it?
  • Any other information you can provide.

Use CAP product GHQ.

We subscribe to API, because our A1c is waived, we get two samples.  Our RNs and NAs don’t get overwhelmed, and we get an evaluation from an outside entity.
