Arterial Blood Gas Puncture Policy question?

I have a question.  Do you guys write and maintain the Arterial Blood Gas Puncture Policy or it is writing by the respiratory management with lab input?

The respiratory dept maintains policies of Arterial Punctures.   We do have a statement on the Lab Skill-check forms: . Demonstrates proper specimen collection. (Allen Test performed for radial collections.)

Written by the respiratory dept, reviewed by the lab.

The POC department maintains the Arterial puncture procedures.

Respiratory.  If we need anything added to meet CAP, then I let Respiratory know to add it.  They also maintain the training checklists on arterial punctures.

Strictly Respiratory only.

We just wrapped up our CAP inspection today. Currently, our Arterial Stick Policy and Training materials are all written/owned  by Respiratory Therapy. However, after a recommendation on this inspection, we'll be making a change to how we document the training and if the Allen test is properly documented moving forward.
I'm not 100% sure how that will look, yet, but we will be making changes to include some form documentation.......

Respiratory for us, too!
