Servicing iSTATs for broken meters

Has anyone used a different service or equipment repair place to fix broken iSTATs? We do not have a service agreement and I stumbled upon a company that repairs them but has bad reviews. However, it was sooooooo much cheaper than Abbott.

I didn't know there was a company available to do this.  What is the company name?

My guess is that any alternate servicing entity......If there is ever an issue it would probably void any warranty or responsibility that Abbott would take for that ISTAT.

It is not something I would try. My ISTAT and their servicing belong to Bio-Med. They would shoot this down upon suggestion.

Agree with Deanna there - Abbott would essentially abandon that meter and all associated responsibilities knowing that another company worked on it.  I think an Abbott service contract is money well spent especially when you consider they are handheld devices that can very easily be dropped.

We do not have a service agreement and we will not be getting one (executive decision not mine). I am aware that it would void responsibility. However, they are already out of warranty and Abbott won't make repairs only exchanges for $4400. So it wouldn't be a huge loss to try a repair company (if legit) to fix the meter for less than $500. I saw Acme Revival who does repairs and quoted $240 to fix our. However they have a lot of bad reviews so I feel uncomfortable trying that. So my question is has anyone used a different service or equipment repair place to fix broken iSTATs?

We also do not have an Abbott service contract and likely never will (also same as you, not our decision, someone else's!).  In the past our Biomed department would work on them and did have some success in bringing them back to life.  However, since our Biomed department is now under GE Healthcare, that service has gone away and now we are back to buying new replacements when they break.  How successful are we in buying new when they break, you ask?  Well, I have had one broken since September 2024 that still isn't replaced.......
