Markers that do not wipe off with alcohol or cleaners

We currently have nurses write an open/ exp date with a permanent marker on certain supplies. When they wipe the supplies with chemical wipes, alcohol or even hand sanitizer it fades the dates. Does anyone know of a marker that will not just come off with certain chemicals for dating supply purposes?

And of course, they want to put tape over the writing which tape is a " No" as well.

This is what we use.

We had the same issue with glucose controls.
We finally ended up pre-printing labels from the Print Shop and tested them.
Since glucose controls are changed every 90 days, this works well. The labels are impervious to finger oils and cleaning.

this might not work if other items are included that are not opened/discarded on a schedule.

We have the operators put a piece of clear tape over the written date and that works for protecting the glucose strips and QC from the alcohol wipes and rubbing off.

I've had luck with the markers the histology department uses.

My go to one is called Azer-Ink chemically resistant markers from Azer Scientific.

Our Infection Prevention department doesn't allow tape. Operators use a variety of things--specific labels and write with pen, Sharpie, pen right on the container. I don't think we could talk the hospitals into all buying the same thing.

We have had luck with StatMark pens SMP-BK (for microscope slide and tissue cassette labeling) from StatLab.
