Alphanumeric QC values in Telcor QML

Good afternoon,
Our healthcare system uses Telcor QML Middleware for the majority of our POCT. Our Clinitek Status+ has historically never interfaced through QML, but instead utilizes RapidComm to send results to the patients' EMR (Epic). Clinitek QC is only recorded by instrument printouts and paper log. We are in the process of interfacing our Clinitek QC to QML, but have hit a roadblock due to the alphanumeric values of our Dipper QC. Our Telcor Project Manager is trying to ask around how other facilities are interfacing their QC, but he has not had much luck yet. He says in Telcor, it is an all-or-nothing approach to the QML values -- either all has to be qualitative, or all quantitative. Can't be "alphanumerics". Does anyone have any insight with a similar situation? Thank you kindly!

We have been using Telcor with the Clinitek for years. Our results show in QML with both alpha results (small/large) and numerical (Uro 4.0 and glucose 250). While I cannot find/remember what was done in QML, since it is the instrument that drives what passes and fails, the values may enter QML how they show on the analyzer.
This is something you do need to keep in mind but are probably already used to doing. You will need to program the new ranges in the Clinitek each new lot. We do not enter QC values in QML since the instrument communicates pass/fail.

Not sure if this was helpful.

We utilize Clinitek Status+ and a dipper QC (cliniqa).  We are interfaced to Telcor and both results with number values and words (positive, negative, moderate, large, etc.) cross the interface into Telcor.  The lot number of the QC material is also a mixture of numbers and letters and it crosses into telcor, this comes across into Telcor as "Sample ID".  Pass/Fail is determined at the instrument, but those QC results of Pass/Fail also come across the interface in Telcor.

I did not setup our interface, so can't help much with how it was done, but I know that it can be!

Our Cliniteks are interfaced with no issues for years.  We have both Dip and Preg active on our Cliniteks for patients and QC.  I can send you screen shots if needed.  Email me at miranda.cotter@mercy.net if this would be helpful at all.

Thank you all so much for the responses! This is very helpful to know that it can successfully be done, as we've been looking forward to interfacing the QC.

Hi Joy,
We have had our Cliniteks interfaced with QC and patients since we got them.  Results show in QML if they passed or failed and will show both alpha and numeric values.  The only thing you can't do is pull LJ charts for the analytes that have alpha characters.  Let me know if you need other info.
