Good morning,  looking for some insight for those that utlize the GEM 5000 and RALS.
Do you utilize the GEMweb Plus too?  Pros and cons.
Is GEMweb Plus necessay?

Thank you for help and time,
Michelle

GWP isnt required to use RALS but I will say GWP is a HUGE asset. It allows you to monitor the analyzers, cartridge data, QC and results from your PC rather than having to do it at the analyzer.  Also, if you were to have an issue, you can download the data for service from GWP rather than a USB at the analyzer.

I would 1000% recommend using GWP.

We use GWP to manage our GEM 5000 analyzers and like Christina said, it's very helpful.  We found its operator management components to be much more clunky so we paid to install the GEM 5000 module in RALS just for operator management.  A couple examples:  you can't sort the operator list or export it to a sortable document (it only exports to PDF) and each time an operator takes a quiz or recertifies, you lose the info from their last certification (vs. the history kept in RALS).  We didn't interface it via RALS, we're just using it for tracking and quizzes, so we still have to manually update operator expiration dates in GWP.

Thank you both for your quick response, greatly appreciated.

Our GEMs are connected to our LIS through GEMweb. LIS informed us it couldn't go through RALS like the rest of our instruments, but I suspect they just didn't want to deal with the configurations. So i-STAT, Nova, Clinitek, Hemochron are all connected through RALS, but the GEMs are through GEMweb.

@Kyle - which LIS are you using?  Thanks
