GEM 5000 Pleural Fluid pH

Hi all,
Does anyone run pleural fluid pH on their GEM 5000s? We are currently running this on our Siemens Rapid Point analyzers but we will be switching over to the Werfen GEM 5000s in the next couple of months. According to our Werfen rep, the GEMs are only validated for whole blood, so we will have to validate pleural fluid pH as an LDT. I was wondering if anyone would be willing to share their validation plan and SOP? Please feel free to email me privately. I greatly appreciate any and all help, and as always, thanks in advance!

Not being snarky or anything ... I've been in EXACTLY your position before. Save yourself the LDT workup, the additional scrutiny come survey time, and the additional maintenance (think pleural fluid "goobers"). Just run on a good quality, stand-alone pH meter.
What are some good quality, stand alone pH meters that are FDA approved for pleural fluid? Sorry to put this under your post Jaclyn but I'm in a similar situation. Our hospital moved from Rapidpoints to ABL90s which are not validated for body fluid pH.
