AVOXimeter 1000e Instrument to Instrument Comparison

Hello all! We recently validated a new AVOximeter 1000e in Cath lab and it's now due for an instrument-to-instrument comparison (with the old AVOX).

I used lavender top tubes, and I wanted to make sure of the criteria/TAE that is used for the sO2 & tHb values?

Appreciate your help!

You need to refer to your policy on correlation, it is base on your organization’s policy. If you do not have a policy you need to have one so that you will be guided on your process moving forward.

Thank you but there isn't a policy set. I recently became the new pocc at my hospital. I would like to know what others are using?

Every 6 months I use 5 patient comparisons of varying ranges from the EDTA tubes then I also use the RNA Medical CO-Oximeter Calibration Verification Controls.

Thanks Trudy. And what is the criteria you use for approval of sO2 and tHb values?

We do AVOX instrument to instrument comparison using CAP SOQ Cross Check.  This also covers our AVOX to GEM comparison.
Then, we also correlate AVOX to our ABL's and Sysmex both in Main Lab.
For oxyhemoglobin between AVOX's and AVOX to ABL's, we use 3.0% units not a 3.0% calculated difference for TAE..  For example, if we get an 82%, then the range we accept is 79%-85%.
For total hemoglobin, between the AVOX's we use a 4% TAE.  For AVOX to GEM and Sysmex, we use a 7% or 0.5 g/dL TAE.
