GEM Hemochron Instrument to Instrument Comparison

Hello all,

I have two GH100s at my facility and was wondering if we could use samples for the instrument to instrument comparison study other than patient samples?

We have 17 at our facility and we use CAP crosscheck to evaluate our instruments.  API also has PT material for ACT, and you could use that material as well.  API is very helpful when you call.  Honestly, you could use the QC of a different lot- you can purchase the Signature Elite QC to run on your devices (This is less expensive than the GEM100 QC).

That's very helpful information thank you!
Our facility is very small so we don't get a lot of patients, which makes it difficult to complete the comparison study within the designated timeframe.

We do quality crosschecks on the GEM100s and plot them as a multiple-instrument comparison.

Since you both mentioned quality / CAP crosschecks, how is that sort of testing done? I was recently hired as POC

They send sets 2X/year, and they are run just like the QC. They also come with full handling instructions for how long they should warm to RT, etc.

At my facility we draw our own blood to create samples that have been spiked with varying amounts of heparin.

The Quality Cross Checks are purchased from CAP- they list them in the proficiency catalog.
