Nova StatStrip Glucose meters in the O.R.

Hello all!
My question is about having a Nova StatStrip Glucose meter inside the Operating Room.
We have always had iSTATs for use in or O.R. for testing glucose.
Recently someone asked if they could get glucometers in the O.R. for a quicker, easier measurement of patient glucose. Without sounding stupid, my rationalization for not having this type of device in the O.R. for glucose measurement is that the sample is compromised: the patient is sedated, it's cold in there which in turn compromises the circulation?? Right?? Not a good capillary measurement.
Do any of my trusted friends on the Listserv have any information or advice for me??
Much appreciated,
Erica Lowery

Currently are you using a green top now for the istat? if so you can just use that for the nova meter. Green top is an acceptable Nova specimen.
