Middleware options - pros and cons

We currently use RALS and connect Nova StatStrip, Nova StatSensor, i-STAT for waived creatinine and do manual entry through the StatStrip for urine pregnancy testing. We are nearing the time for budgeting for the next year and gathering quotes for this. It is possible that I will be asked to gather additional quotes and information for other middleware. I thought I would reach out and see what others have for middleware and any pros and cons to different systems. Any input will be helpful. Thank you!

At Deaconess Health System we have Telcor QML as our Middleware vendor and they are one of the best vendors I work with.
At Mercy STL we also use Telcor/QML and it is very capable. I also like that it is not tied to a specific vendor (I think Rawls is with Abbott??) and it works great with multiple platforms.
Just some quick feedback in this context. As we all might know, hospitals are being inundated, (some overrun,) with data with new instruments being added, AI being incorporated into everything, etc... and it is putting a huge strain on the I.T. Dept., as well as dramatically increasing costs for capital, labor involvement, and even energy use. This is why you are seeing the rapid growth of cloud-based systems with things like EHR, Telehealth, Pharmacy management and other. With cloud based, you have experts managing your data in a proven and efficient environment, like with MS Azure. This is just something to consider and become educated about as you continue to work with legacy middleware systems, relying on on-site infrastructure. There are cloud-based options out there for middleware.
We were in the process of a merger to a very large system. All the hospitals (7) in the system had RALS, and we have Telcor. I had to share what my quote was for service all of the devices and locations. They had to get a quote to add my POC program onto theirs, and it was 50,000 more than Telcor. Telcor is very reasonable with their prices, and the first to have connection to the new devices that hit the market. They are very responsive to tickets, and new projects.
