Hello,
Is anyone using the Nova Stat Strip  glucose meters having issues with the meters losing the WiFi connection, thus causing the meter to lose its configuration? If so, have you determined if this is a meter issue or your hospital's WiFi?
Thank you,

Not sure if this applies, but when I first started in POC our BGM meters were struggling to hold a connection. Turns out that we had too many devices trying to connect to the network. This caused an issue that our IS team had to go in and reconfigure our network. Maybe reach out to your information systems people and see what the connection strength and speeds are for your devices. You may be encountering a similar situation.

Dimitrinka - Can you elaborate on what you mean by loses its configuration?

Micheal - can you clarify what your health systems solution was to the problem? Do you use wifi certificates?

We have a similar problem at our health system. We have 250+ meters trying to connect to the same wifi account. Once in a while a glucometer will throw bad credentials which will "lock out" the other meters which will cause delays in the interface at times up to several hours. Our I.T. has not wanted to explore using individual accounts because we are often getting meters replaced and this would lead to continually needing to set up new accounts..

Have you reached out to Nova? We had a similar issue, but the devices lost their configuration when the battery drained. Nova then released a firmware update that rectified the issue.

We use the StatStrip glucometers.  They are designed with the knowledge that the wifi isn't always the best and may lose connection when in the process of sync'ing.  They will come up with a message stating the synch didn't complete but this shouldn't impact the customization settings.  The message can be acknowledged and continued to be used without issue.  (May need to find a location with better wifi to sync it).

Is this one meter or multiple?  If the problem is exclusive to one meter, I would say that the specific meter has issues and needs to be replaced.
  • Maybe the battery is weak/bad and it's losing its settings and wifi connection?  I'm not sure but if the meter is left long enough without power it may eventually lose its memory/settings.

You may need to check under Admin- network - Set Ntwk : that the Network connectivity is on.

Unfortunately, I am not able to clarify beyond what I stated above. IS worked on it form their end and in POC we tried to use less bandwidth.

We had issues with one corrupt meter that in turn caused  all the meters ability to transmit data

This is exactly what happens at our healthsystem. Two potential work arounds are to increase # of wifi accounts being used - we broke it down to have one at each hospital so that at least this way only one hospital will go down rather than all of them at the same time. Finding the corrupt meter has been quite the task. The second idea would be to explore using certificates but we have had no such luck with this.

Our system recently went with the StatStrip Gen 2 meters and have had significant issues including WiFi connectivity dropping. We did install 1.2.14.11 within the last 6 weeks and it did help with meters dropping off the WiFi  and losing their configuration, but it did not eliminate it. With the GEN 2 meters you have to use NovaNet and that has had significant issues as well. The Gen 2 meters and the version of NovaNet needed to use the GEN 2s are relatively new and we are hoping with time the improvements that are made will resolve most of the issues.
