Hi there, 

I was wondering what other NICU departments are using for capillary draws. Our NICU has the new GEM 7000 and uses the Minivettes but have been having issues with aspiration errors and clotting (more so than the iStat they currently have). Any other product you find to work for nurse draw better?

We also really struggle with clotted samples.  It's just such a technique dependent collection.  We use the Werfen 170 uL heparinized capillary tubes (00008217000).  There are 100 per vial.  They do not contain a flea and it does not include caps.  We use the RAM Scientific end caps (MFR# 06 0402).  There are 500 per box.

I have shared the YouTube video below with staff and it seems to have helped some of them.  The step of "activating" the heparin was especially counter-intuitive for some of them, but it obviously helps keep the sample heparinized/not clotted.
