Accu-Chek Inform II firmware update 04.08.00

Hi all,
Has anyone with the Accu-Chek Inform II meter tried applying the new firmware (04.08.00)?
We rolled it out to some devices the other day through RALS, and these ones subsequently had a hardware error that prevented continued work on the device..
The meter has the strip lots on board in memory. If you are going to run QC and it has a list of available lots, the lot is available. But when you go to scan the barcode on the strip lot, it has a hardware error (E-FDH).
I spent a day on the phone with Roche, and was unable to resolve the problem through available means of troubleshooting.
Just want to see if anyone else has attempted this update, and what your outcome was. Thanks!

the last firmware time we updated our firmware was the version 04.07.00 and it gave us an issue where the glucometer scanners would intermittently turn off and would not work (docking did help reset or even rebooting). We called Roche and had not had any response as to the cause. Their only recommended action is to not update the replacement meters, that come with version 04.06.04, to the 04.07.00.
