Setting up iSTAT devices

I just wanted to reach out to see what others are doing to set up their iSTAT devices. We had a computer that we designated to setting these up and it went down and have now been told with Windows 11, we will need a router and the computer to be off the network for the setup of the devices. How do you all manage this piece for setup? Do you handle the setup piece or is it handled by your IT team? Anything you have found that makes it easier to manage? It has always been an absolute headache to set up new devices and docks for that reason. We have trouble with our docking stations staying connected to our network as well which adds to the frustration as we have to constantly reset the docks and reconnect them to the network.

Are you referring to setting up a wireless i-STAT specifically or docks as well? We handle both in-house as opposed to involving our IT teams.
For wireless i-STATs we use a laptop with the Abbott NCi program. I was told by our Field Services team that the NCi program was not compatible with windows 11, but when I called Abbott I was told that this wasn't the case.
For downloaders we have a separate laptop that is off network and off domain. We disable the wireless and set up the ethernet settings for internet protocol ipv4 to be in the same IP range as the factory settings of the downloader then connect the two via ethernet cable to set them up. A separate laptop wouldn't be necessary for this process at long as you had admin privelages to adjust the adapter settings.
Hope this helps,

This task is handled by our IT department. For most issues, we have to use a ticket system for IT help. But we have a few go to guys that have been helping us for over 10 years that we can call and they generate the ticket afterwards. Personally, I feel this is best for the experts to complete.
Good luck,
Pam
We just performed a wireless setup on a new iSTAT1 last year with the Windows 11 instructions (router, laptop that is off network, etc.). It was extremely complex and involved having to open certain ports to get it to work. This is definitely something you will need ITs help with- even our IT team didn't quite understand why it had to be so complex.
That is correct. We use the NCi program to configure our wireless 5ghz 300-W i-STATs. It does require having a wireless capable laptop with local admin rights to be able to change network adapter settings.
