For those of you that currently have the Accu-Chek Inform II, with the delay in FDA approval for the new Roche meter, what are you doing? Looking into other meters or waiting?

I may have missed something, but what new Roche meter? My facility uses the Inform II and we weren't planning on changing. I haven't heard of the new meter or a need to move from the Inform II.

There is the link to the new meter from Roche. But it is not fully FDA approved for use here. It once again got another delay that will be close to another year. Our contract is coming up so we are looking at our options.

New Roche meter  is FDA approved for arterial blood and venous but not capillary.  Nothing is happening to the Accu Check Inform II at this time but this is being developed  as the replacement or the next generation of roche glucometers.  We are looking at the Nova meter due to it is FDA approved for the critical ill.  Nova strips remove the interfering substances that can cause a false reading.  My only thing with Nova is you have to buy a middle ware like rals or telcor to manage the users in.  I really like infinity POC.....

Hopefully in the next year or two capillary will get approved. With all of the connection issues with the 2nd gen nova meters, it's tough to want to invest in them. I do like the new tech the pulse comes with. Our nurses use glucommander so it seems they would really benefit from that feature. Looking at a couple different studies online, the pulse results compare really well, if not slightly better. Too bad they have to wait for the FDA

Hi Aimee,
As an end user of the INFORM II and the INFORM before that and the Roche GTS glucose management system before that, I'm suggesting that you consider going to your local Roche rep and inquire about 'a new meter' which has been in the works for many years. If you don't have a current active Roche rep then call Roche customer # or whatever number you use to report issues with INFORM II meters.

I have always received fantastic customer service as a Roche POC device user, which is why I'm suggesting reaching out directly to Roche for information. Hope this helps you.
Peggy
