HemoCue Glucose 201 - Interface to Middleware/LIS

Hello everyone,

Our facility has nterfaced four HemoCue Glucose 201 devices across two hospital units with our middleware, TELCOR QML, and we're interested in connecting with others who have experience with this platform and analyzer combination.
While we have achieved connectivity, we've encountered some challenges during implementation and are hoping to learn how other organizations have approached similar issues.

Thank you! :-)

What issues are you having?

We interfaced ours with navify previously called Infinity. We had a ton of problems in the beginning. Our rep for Infinity just kept escalating the issues with nothing being resolved. I eventually changed a setting, I believe in Infinty, to make it uni-directional instead of bi-directional and boom it all worked with no issues. The down side is you can't verify patient information in the meter, so we have a process where they verify that the Patient ID matches from meter to wristband. And then the result flows over the chart once docked.

Hi Chelley,

Thank you for your response!  We will take another look at the device and middleware settings with our rep to see if there's anything that can possibly be causing the issue.

We are experiencing issues with significant delays in result charting, specifically in the transfer of data from the HemoCue Glucose 201 devices to our middleware, TELCOR. Once the results reach TELCOR, they are transmitted to our LIS within 1-2 minutes consistently.

We have spent a significant amount of time observing workflows on the units, and I genuinely believe the staff are docking the devices promptly and correctly after testing. We've also involved our Network and IT teams, who have completed extensive investigations, including tracing the network cabling in the IDF closets to rule out infrastructure issues.

TELCOR has installed Wireshark on our server and has been monitoring traffic, but so far they have not been able to identify a root cause. On the other hand, HemoCue maintains that the issue is not related to the devices or docking stations.

At this point, we're feeling a bit stuck and honestly quite baffled.

The other thing we found was if the cuvette holder was closed it would not transmit from hemocue. So we have a sign for them to make sure the cuvette holder is open before docking. That is something that should be easy to test.

Oh my gosh, I think you seriously may have solved the problem!!! They love keeping the cuvette holder closed!
