Is anyone else concerned about the newest Customer Advisory Notice from Nova Biomedical? Are any facilities experiencing patient mismatches and what is your facility doing to monitor misidentifications from the meter?

Can you send a link to that consumer advisory notice that you mention so we can read about it?

Sincerely,
Alma

Make sure you have the meter that is recalled. Look at the REF number on the back of your meters.
That is your part number.

Nova Cutstomer Advisory Notice 10-05-26.pdf
We switched to the 2.0 meters back in March and have been dealing with issues from them since.  Most recently we were told of patient ID issues happening not only as they are scanning the patient armband before the test but after the result is on the screen.  So an operator can scan a barcode, see the proper patient info on the screen, run the test and once the result shows up on the screen the patient info can be incorrect and go to the wrong chart.  This is with the new 2.0 meters only, not the older generation.

Hi Susan- do you have these devices, and if so, have you experienced any barcode retention issues?
My facility is negotiating our new contract, which includes moving to the 2.0 Nova Meters.  I was hoping that by the time we are ready to receive our new hardware, Nova would have resolved this issue.  Fingers crossed.

I appreciate this forum, where we can all bounce ideas and share good information with one another.

Some of our sites have them and others never went live with them (actually shipped them back to Nova) because of all the issues.  The sites that haven't gone live are not going to until the issues are fixed. I do not recommend them at this point.

What are you using instead? I believe Nova is still the only meter cleared for use on critically ill patients, i.e. hospital-wide use.
