Said: I knew Abbott replaced with refurbished instruments, but I didn't realize they replaced with equivalent aged devices. That is not helpful! I guess I need to check our service contract.

Aging i.STAT Devices
Hello, has anyone established an internal end-of-life span for their i.STAT devices? We've experienced issues with the internal clock losing the ability to maintain the accurate time for a few devices > 10 years of age. Per the vendor, there are no error codes or alerts to the end-user to aid in identifying this issue. The issue is detected when the results post to the chart with the incorrect time. Recommended iSTAT Replacement Age
Does anyone know of the Abbott recommended iSTAT replacement age? My hospital system has almost 40 iSTATs throughout, many of which are OLD (I have one on my desk that is 21 years old). I couldn't find any literature to support a recommended replacement time, but I was thinking that might help my department build a case for replacement capitol.
