Laboratory Refrigerators

Good afternoon, might anyone know if laboratory reagents (quality control) be stored in the same refrigerator as patient specimens? Is there a standard out there that might state that we can or cannot store them together? All I found
was that patient samples could not be stored along with food. If anyone knows where I can look up this standard I would appreciate it.
Thank you,

If there is such a standard I am unaware, because we store 7 days of patient samples in the fridge with our QC supplies. I believe that is an acceptable practice.
I am Joint Commission inspected, and this was a response I found on their website for FAQs some time ago.

Thanks for the reply, this helps a lot
Carrie, thanks for sharing the JC FAQ. I would not have thought that any patient meds could be in the same refrigerator with patient specimens.
