Aloha all,

Can anyone tell me what type of low heparin blood gas syringes you use at your faciliy, we currently use Marquest gaslyte 1 cc luer locks but have been told that they are on back order.   We are currently using their luer slips, but prefer finding another low heparin/balanced 1 cc luer lock syringe.

Happy Monday!

Aloha, Shana -

Our ambulatory PFT lab RTs performing ABGs use "Westmed Pulset" syringes but those RTs told me inpatient (using a different analyzer) uses a "Provent" low heparin syringe.

I don't know from where either are ordered. Good Luck! Peggy

We utilize a Smiths Medical product.  Provent, ABG kit. Product # 4617P-1 1 ml syringe with dry lithium heparin.  Been very happy with the product, but our usage is low.

Contains 23.5 I.U. units of Heparin per ml capacity and it is neutralized for measurement of ionized calciums.
